Riding into the record books with Seaside Venture Group 40 riders,
comprising of representatives from Blenheim House Child Development
Centre, Park, Highfurlong and Woodlands Special Schools Blackpool
and Red Marsh School, Thornton Cleveleys along with many former helpers
& two of our long serving members Penny Gillett & Sally Howson.
Assisted by over 40 helpers from Seaside Venture Group, Wrea Green
Equitation Centre, Beaverbrooks the Jewellers, The Department for Work
& Pensions and the Pony Club, the riders successfully completed 5
riding lessons.
To launch the event, His Worship the Mayor of Fylde, Councillor Paul
Rigby assisted by Mrs Rigby cut the 40th Birthday Cake, followed
by the Groups good friend Canon, Rev.Godrey Hirst pronouncing
a blessing on the horses and riders.
Immediately prior to the launch, Radio Lancashire`s Steve Becker
made a live broadcast from the yard, in the Breakfast Show, interviewing
on horse back Penny Gillett supported by Chris Pollitt and Group
Chairperson Beryl Clarkson.
The Group are most grateful to all those who made the morning such a great
success, including all those working behind the scenes, both before and
after the event. to ensure all the horses and ponies were well prepared and
looked after, and especially to our Community Sports support officers from
Lancashire Sport Partnership, Heather Palfreyman and Wendy Voo who
acted as adjudicators to verify the "lessons" .
